Kuxal Sodanch

This is my first post in Konkani! And I am glad about it.
This is again from the same Silver Wedding of J am M , many many years ago.
Am so grateful we'd saved the hymn sheets.

Here are the lyrics :

Kuxal sodanch amim ravchem,
Kuxal dhados amim bhonvchem,
Moga jivit ekuch dorem,
Bhavbhoinnam-jivit hem khorem.

Amchim kallzam khoxe nadar,
Nitoll anvdde, bore udgar,
Amcho Bapui asa sorgar,
Amchem to sukh, Amchem Bhanddar

Here is the tune :

Clap your hands and sing Alleluia

Clap your hands and sing Alleluia

Clap you hands and sing to the Lord,
Allelu(2) Alleluia (2)
Alleluia(3) Amen (2)
Raise your voice and sing to the Lord
Allelu (2) Alleluia (2)

Give me oil in my lamp keep me burning

This is an old one , we've most probably learned as kids.

Here are the lyrics. This version has some additional verses to it, may come handy if you ever need it.

Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning
Give me oil in my lamp, I pray
Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning
Keep me burning till the break of day

Sing hosanna, sing hosanna
Sing hosanna to the Servant King
Sing hosanna, sing hosanna
Sing hosanna, let us sing

Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising
Give me joy in my heart, I pray
Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising
Keep me praising till the break of day

Sing hosanna, sing hosanna
Sing hosanna to the Servant King
Sing hosanna, sing hosanna
Sing hosanna, let us sing

3. Give me peace in my heart, keep me loving
Give me peace in my heart, I pray
Give me peace in my heart, keep me loving
Keep me loving till the break of day

Sing hosanna, sing hosanna
Sing hosanna to the Servant King
Sing hosanna, sing hosanna
Sing hosanna, let us sing

Give me love in my heart, keep me serving
Give me love in my heart, I pray
Give me love in my heart, keep me serving
Keep me serving till the break of day

Sing hosanna, sing hosanna
Sing hosanna to the Servant King
Sing hosanna, sing hosanna
Sing hosanna, let us sing

Glory, glory Lord - Bob Fitts

This was one of our favourite Gloria's we sang quite regularly, prior to the changes to the Roman Missal. We did it in voices, and I loved singing this hymn , praising God for his mightiness.

Here's one by Bob Fitts, a groovy beat and a lively tune truly 'Glorifying the Lord'!

Here are the lyrics to it  :

Glory Glory Lord
Ch : Glory, glory Lord!
We give you glory Lord!
Glory, glory Lord!
You are the mighty God!
1. You who go down to the sea
You who live in the islands
If you live in the city
Lift your voice and sing out (sing out)

2. Sing to the Lord a new song
Sing His praise to the ends of the earth
Let every nation tell it
Till every man has heard
Give it a listen here. It's a nice version, with some good beats.

Hear my cry, have mercy on me Oh Lord

Give it a listen here :

Have mercy on me

Psalm 51 :1

Have mercy on me, O God,
According to your unfailing love
According to your great compassion
Blot out my transgressions.

Have mercy on me, O God,
According to your unfailing love
Wash away my iniquity
Cleanse me from my sins

I will be whiter than snow
I will be whiter than snow
And I'll learn I am whiter than snow
I will be whiter than snow.

Give it a listen here :

O Lord Have Mercy

This one's another classic Kyrie. A more solemn tune, which I would prefer doing acoustic , with just a light accompaniment .
Will upload a two-part voice harmony for this in coming days. Stay tuned!

For now, here are the lyrics to it :

Oh Lord have mercy on us all
Oh Lord have mercy (2)

Christ have mercy on us all
Have mercy on us (2)

Oh Lord have mercy on us all
Oh Lord have mercy

Celebrate Jesus, celebrate! - Don Moen

A chirpy song, celebrating Jesus. It can be used for the easter vigil service or even at your nuptial mass.

Here are the lyrics to it :

Celebrate Jesus celebrate
Celebrate Jesus celebrate
Celebrate Jesus celebrate
Celebrate Jesus celebrate

He is risen He is risen
And He lives forevermore
He is risen He is risen
Come on and celebrate
The resurrection of our Lord

We celebrate your love - David Baroni

I first sung this hymn at the wedding of R and J. They made a truly handsome couple. This one's dedicated to the two of them. Here's wishing them a lifetime of happiness.

It is a beautiful wedding song, that you choose as your entrance hymn.
The words are beautiful and apt for the occasion.
Thank you David, for this lovely hymn.

Here are the lyrics to it:

In these holy moments
Gathered in your name
Love has called us here
Love is why we came
Lord we’re overwhelmed with
The joy that fills this place
So in these holy moments
We celebrate with praise

Chorus:
We celebrate your love
We celebrate each other
We celebrate the one
Who joins our hearts together
And in this holy place
Of tenderness and grace
We worship you and celebrate your love!

Preparing for these moments
We prayed that you would be
Welcomed to the hearts
Of friends and family
And as we sense your presence
These words alone can’t say
How glad we are you’re here lord
To share this wedding day

Chorus repeat

I hope I am able to lay my hands on our rendition of the song from R and J's wedding. Will surely upload it here if that happens :)

With this ring - T Carter

Below is one of my favourite wedding songs. We sung this at my cousin A's wedding to M.
It was a beautiful moment. This song is truly lovely. The words and music for this song are by Anthony W. Carter.

Here are the lyrics :

With This Ring
I've been waiting for this moment for so long
An answered prayer, I know you are the one
I give to you my heart and soul
With a love that will never grow old

In my life, I can see
That you were made for me
You'll be there to catch me if I fall
All the days, I have prayed
And the love that I have saved
With this ring, I'm giving you my all

I thank God for the gift He has given me
A love that's strong for all of eternity
I give to you all of my days
With a love for all of your ways

In my life, I can see
That you were made for me
I'll be there to catch you if you fall
All the days, I have prayed
And the love that I have saved
With this ring, I'm giving you my all

iIn the days that we grow old
The times may change but our love will remain
As we look back on this day now
We stood the test of time
Living the promise of our vow

In my life, I can see
That you were made for me
I'll be there to catch you if you fall
All the days, I have prayed
And the love that I have saved
With this ring, I'm giving you my all...

Raise him up - Josh Groban

Another awesome communion hymn! Josh Groban for you.

Here are the lyrics to it :

I am the bread of life,
He who comes to me shall not hunger.
He who believes in me shall notthirst.
No one can come to me
unless the Father draw him.

And I will raise him up, (2)
and I will raise him up on the last day.

The bread that I will give
is my flesh for the life of the world,
and he who eats of this bread,
he shall live for ever,
he shall live for ever.

Alleluia, Seek ye first

A very common Alleluia. This is the first time I got the words for the second verse as well.

Here are the lyrics for it :

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God,
and his righteousness,
and all these things shall be added unto you;
allelu, alleluia.

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, allelu, alleluia. (2)
Ask and it shall be given unto you,
seek and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you;
allelu, alleluia.

Jesus I believe what you said - Evie Tornquist

Heard this at mass yesterday. I think this tune is a perfect song for kids.
It's quite a catchy,easy-to-learn tune.

Here are the lyrics :

Jesus, I believe what you said
Jesus, I believe what you said
Jesus, I believe what you said
Jesus, I believe what you said

Though the world should all forsake me
I will never fear or dread
For you said that you'd go with me
And Jesus, I believe what you said

Though the sky is gray above me
Though I cannot see ahead
Yet you promised you'd protect me
And Jesus, I believe what you said

I believe you really love me
I believe you really care
I believe you died to save me
And at death's crossing you'd be there, oh, oh, oh

When my eyes by tears are blinded
You took my hand and gently led
Oh how sweet it is to trust you
'Cause Jesus, I believe what you said
Yes, Jesus I believe what you said
And Jesus, I believe what you said

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet

There have been multiple renditions of this hymn, composed by Amy Grant and M.W. Smith based on Psalm 119. However, I particularly enjoy the version below by the Maranatha singers. The beauty of their singing is that they keep the accompaniment very minimal and capture you with the perfect blend of their voices!

This hymn can be sung at a responsorial psalm during mass if it goes with the theme of the readings. Additionally, we've also sung the same during wedding masses as well.
Read on to get the lyrics, the audio and also the sheet music for the same!

Here are the lyrics to it :

Thy Word is a Lamp unto my Feet
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path

When I feel afraid
Think I've lost my way
Still You're there right beside me
And nothing will I fear
As long as You are near
Please be near me to the end

Now I will not forget Your love for me and yet
My heart forever is wandering
Jesus, be my guide and hold me to Your side
And I will love You to the end

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path

Give it a listen here.

Sheet music :

Here's a very basic arrangement that I wrote with the right hand accompaniment. You could use it for a regular Sunday mass!

Thy Word is a Lamp unto my feet

Our God Reigns

Heard this at evening mass today, it's a soothing tune, speaking of the awesomeness of our God.

Here are the lyrics.
How lovely on the mountains are the feet of Him
Who brings good news, good news;
Announcing peace, proclaiming news of happiness:
Our God reigns, our God reigns!
Refrain
Our God reigns!
Our God reigns!
Our God reigns!
Our God reigns!
He had no stately form, He had no majesty
That we should be drawn to Him.
He was despised and we took no account of Him.
Our God reigns, our God reigns!
Refrain
It was our sin and guilt that bruised and wounded Him.
It was our sin that brought Him down.
When we like sheep had gone astray our Shepherd came
And on His shoulders bore our shame.
Refrain
Meek as a lamb that’s led out to the slaughterhouse,
Dumb as a sheep before its shearer,
His life ran down upon the ground like pouring rain
That we might be born again.
Refrain
Out from the tomb He came with grace and majesty;
He is alive, He is alive.
God loves us so, see here His hands, His feet, His side
Yes we know, He is alive.
Refrain

Kiss of Peace : Havenu Shalom

This is  special Hebrew song sung at wedding masses. It is a song of celebration.
I first heard it at my friend C's wedding , and loved it. It's got a wonderful beat to it.

As per Wikipedia,
Shalom aleikhem (or sholom aleikhem)  is a greeting version in Hebrew, meaning "peace be upon you"

Here are the lyrics to the hymn.
Havenu shalom aleichem,
Havenu shalom aleichem,
Havenu shalom aleichem,
Havenu shalom, shalom
Shalom aleichem.

May the peace of the Lord be with you
Peace with your friends and family too
And may his peace grow within you
Havenu shalom, shalom
Shalom aleichem.

Each For The Other

This wedding hymn below  bears special significance (for a very embarrassing reason I cannot mention on a public forum ) for all of us from my wedding choir, the Wedding Ensemble.
Am sure, this post will bring a chuckle to each of us from the Wedding Ensemble.
This one's dedicated to each of us from the WE, and the wonderful music we've made.

Lord Jesus, the day has come that they've been dreaming of,
When at the altar white they'll say our vows of love;
Oh, what a hap-py time, all gone the doubt and fear,
And, with the promises, they'll add this one dear Lord.

Chorus
Each for the oth-er and both for the Lord.
In the golden book dear Je-sus, let the angels record;
Vows sweetly spoken; may they never be broken;
Each for the oth-er, and both for the Lord.
They'll walk together now, through sunshine and through rain,
They'll mingle tears of pain, and travel unafraid,
O whats a hap-py time, all gone the doubts and fears,
And in a moment Lord, their hearts will fill with cheer.

Rejoice,Rejoice

I heard this tune for the first time at my friend C's wedding.
I am putting this up here, with the hope that one of you can teach me the tune some day!
For now, make do with the lyrics .

Rejoice(3), come, let us praise the Lord,
Rejoice(3), come, let us bless his name,
Rejoice(3), come, let us praise the Lord (3)
Glory,Glory,Glory (3)
O Glory to the Lord.

Gethsemane

He's got the whole world in his hands!

Psalm 95 : v 6-7
'For he is our God,
we are the people he shepherds,
the sheep in his hands.'
I'm sure this was one of the very first action songs you learnt to sing in play school.  It's such a catchy tune. Even my kids from the choir sing it with a whole lot of enthusiasm. It's one of my classic favourites as well!

The song is written on D major. However, let me know if you need it to be transposed to a simpler key, for easy playing  and I could do that for you :)

I've also added the you tube link below and a link to download the pdf in the email below. You could take a print for yourself and try it out on your organ.

Here are the lyrics to the song.

He's Got The Whole World

He's got the whole world in his hands
He's got the whole world in his hands
He's got the whole world in his hands
He's got the whole world in his hands

He's got the little tiny baby in his hands
He's got the little tiny baby in his hands
He's got the little tiny baby in his hands
He's got the whole world in his hands

He's got you and me brother in his hands
He's got you and me brother in his hands
He's got you and me brother in his hands
He's got the whole world in his hands

He's got everybody here in his hands
He's got everybody here in his hands
He's got everybody here in his hands
He's got the whole world in his hands

He's got the whole world in his hands..
He's got the whole world in his hands.

For those of you who haven't heard it as yet, give it a listen here :)

And here comes my favourite section of the post. :)

For those of you who want to play along, he's the sheet music for you.
